A sportsbook comparison needs like-for-like prices and a clear account contract. A larger bonus or a longer list of sports can distract from exchange-rate costs, settlement differences and the actual amount available to withdraw. This guide explains how to read those terms.
Resolve the licence question first
Online sportsbooks serving customers in Great Britain need the appropriate Gambling Commission licence, including where the business is based overseas. A licence issued elsewhere does not replace that permission. The regulator explains its territorial scope; our licence-check guide sets out the identity and domain checks.
The comparisons below are educational. They do not establish that any unverified offshore brand is an appropriate destination for a British customer.
Compare the same betting contract
Match the event, market, settlement period and timestamp. A football match-result price and a “to qualify” price concern different outcomes. A racing each-way price also needs its place fraction and number of places. Without those details, the apparently larger odds may not be the better price for the same bet.
Decimal odds include the returned stake. A winning £10 bet at 2.20 returns £22, giving £12 net profit; at 2.10 it returns £21, giving £11 net profit. Neither price makes a losing selection pay anything.
A simple three-outcome margin illustration uses decimal prices of 2.00, 3.50 and 4.00. Their implied probabilities add to approximately 103.57%: 50% + 28.57% + 25%. The excess above 100% shows an overround in those displayed prices. It is not a forecast of a particular customer’s losses.
Currency conversion can happen twice
Read which currency the gambling account uses, who sets the conversion rate and whether the payment service charges separately. A pounds-denominated card does not guarantee a pounds-denominated account.
In a deliberately simplified example, a 2% fee on a £100 conversion costs £2. Converting an equivalent balance back later can incur another charge. The real result also depends on exchange rates, the provider’s pricing and any fixed fees. Ask for the applicable quote; a single headline “zero-fee deposit” does not describe the whole journey.
Digital assets add asset-price, custody and transfer considerations. They do not exempt a gambling operator from licensing or checks. This guide does not recommend moving funds through another wallet to reach a restricted service.
Translate bonus terms into actual obligations
Record the qualifying deposit, the amount of promotional credit, which balance the multiplier applies to, eligible bets, minimum odds, expiry and the treatment of withdrawn or void bets. A percentage without those conditions is incomplete.
For example, a hypothetical £20 bonus with a five-times requirement on the bonus means £100 of qualifying stakes. This illustrates the calculation, not a live offer or a recommended amount to wager.
For operators licensed by the Gambling Commission, the rewards-and-bonuses rule caps bonus wagering at ten times and prohibits mixing betting, casino, bingo or lottery products within one incentive. These changes took effect on 19 January 2026. Separate offers are different from one linked offer requiring activity across products. The Commission distinguishes unrestricted credit that lets the customer choose the product.
Bonus wagering must not prevent withdrawal of your deposit balance or winnings made with your own funds, subject to necessary regulatory checks. The Commission’s deposit-balance guidance requires cash and bonus balances to be shown separately. A promotional target does not make your own money part of a locked bonus pot.
Also distinguish cash from a free-bet token. A token may exclude the promotional stake from the return. Confirm the specific treatment instead of applying a cash-bet calculation to a promotion.
Price withdrawal service separately from the odds
A short approval estimate does not tell you when a payment will reach your account. Check destination rules, processing hours, fees, limits and what happens when support needs more information. See our withdrawal guide for a request-to-receipt example and complaint records.
Keep a compact comparison record with the site, legal operator, licence checked, market terms, timestamp, currency costs and source links. Screenshots of marketing alone do not support conclusions about reliability.
Do not let the effort spent comparing terms become a reason to gamble more. If gambling is causing money worries or you are trying to get around an account restriction, pause and use the support resources.
